Maria Poole is a distinguished Registered General Nurse (RGN) with a Bachelor of Science (Hons) who has made significant contributions to the field of tissue viability and wound care management over her extensive career. With 15 years of experience as a Tissue Viability Nurse in Primary Care, Maria has developed a profound expertise in managing and treating chronic wounds, including leg ulcers.

Maria's professional journey is marked by her leadership roles in several key organisations. She served on the Executive Council of the National Leg Ulcer Forum, where she acted as Treasurer, and held a trustee position on the Tissue Viability Society committee from 1997 to 1999. Additionally, she chaired the West Midlands Tissue Viability Nurses Association, demonstrating her commitment to advancing the practice and education of tissue viability nursing.

From 2004 to 2008, Maria was an Honorary Lecturer in Tissue Viability at Staffordshire University, where she shared her knowledge and expertise with nursing students, helping to shape the next generation of healthcare professionals. Her contributions to the field are further evidenced by her numerous publications and presentations at national and international conferences, where she has shared her insights and research findings with a broader audience.

Maria joined ConvaTec in July 2010 as a Medical Affairs Specialist, covering the West Midlands and South Wales. Her exceptional performance and dedication to improving patient outcomes led to her promotion to Senior Medical Affairs Specialist in January 2015. Recognising the need to align with NHS strategies aimed at fostering innovation, reducing unwanted variation, and enhancing patient care in wound management, Maria's role evolved to Clinical Strategy Manager in March 2019.

In recognition of her outstanding contributions, Maria was awarded the title of Medical Affairs Person of the Year in both 2016 and 2018. Her career trajectory continued to ascend as she was promoted to National Clinical Strategy Manager for Advanced Wound Care at ConvaTec, UKI, in May 2019, a position she held until retirement in April 2024. In her past roles, Maria introduced strategic initiatives and innovations in wound care, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and clinical excellence.
