About the Leg Club® Movement
The Leg Club® Movement is a global initiative, designed to care for people suffering from or at risk of chronic leg disease within a social model of care.
Our movement is composed of three core elements:
1. The Leg Club® Network – This is the group of Leg Clubs that operate around the world. Our Leg Clubs are dynamic institutions that work within local communities and are made possible by volunteers, nurses, contributing organisations and of course our members (patients).
2. The Leg Club® Model – This is the way that we operate. All Leg Clubs subscribe to this model and its core principles, although Leg Clubs are autonomous and are encouraged to develop their own initiatives.
3. The Lindsay Leg Club® Foundation – This is the registered charity that supports the Leg Club Network and promotes the Leg Club Model. It is run by an independent board of Trustees. The Foundation is there to provide any assistance that it can to individual Leg Clubs, while providing education on Leg Health and the impact that Leg Clubs have on their members.
Enough is enough – sign the petition to help us make change happen
Lower limb and leg ulcer related conditions can affect anyone, but it is the elderly that bear the brunt of the burden with one in fifty people over the age of 80 having a leg ulcer. Last year the NHS managed an estimated 2.2 million patients with a wound, equivalent to 4.5% of the adult population and the annual cost of £5.3 billion. Over half of leg ulcers treated by the NHS in the UK each year were classified as ‘unspecified’ - without being able to understand the underlying cause, decisions cannot be made on the best course of treatment for patients. There is no reason for this inconsistency, or treatment where the concerns and priorities of our patients are not being addressed. Enough is enough! The time has come for us to act. Help us achieve this by signing our petition now. You can also download our full manifesto for change.
