Barbara has had two careers, the first as a political Agent and the second the National Director and CEO of a national medical research charity.
The first working with politicians at all levels, Ministers, civil servants and local government.
The second, patients, health professionals, medical researchers, celebrities and Trustees.
Both involved working extensively with volunteers which inspired and motivated her to support their aims and the desire to do the best for those they supported.
Now retired, using her experience and contacts, she continues to campaign for patients and their carers, clinicians, and improvements in care and treatment in the NHS.
Barbara believes patients have to be first and centre and that meaningful progress in healthcare comes not only from scientific advancement but also from strong relationships, collaboration and advocacy on behalf of patients.
As the Chair of The Medical Technology Group (MTG) for nearly twenty years, she has headed campaigns encouraging the uptake of medical technologies and organisational change in the NHS with a focus on patient-centred outcomes
StillI active within professional and political spheres that influence healthcare delivery and policy, Barbara brings her experience and skills, networks, and enthusiasm to help the work of the Leg Club Foundation as well as strengthen the support available to patients and their families.
