
Bill had an eventful 30 years in policing reaching the rank of Assistant Chief Constable before he retired at the end of 2018. During his career, he led several murder investigations, worked in Los Angeles on gang crime, represented the University of Cambridge in Hyderabad, India educating senior Police Leaders and was the National Lead Officer for Surveillance.
Bill created a Nationally recognised initiative to try to prevent young people being harmed by gang culture. He worked directly with Children’s Services, Youth Offending Service, Education and Health Service to ensure a more holistic approach to this social issue. In 2010, in recognition of this work, Bill was appointed a Commander of the British Empire (CBE) by the late Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Bill has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Police Studies from Portsmouth University and Masters Degree in Applied Criminology from The University of Cambridge.
On retirement from policing, he worked for four years providing lead consultancy on a system of specialist communication for the police and wider law enforcement community bringing in an improved system at a cost of £21 Million.
